LANCELLOTTO
IT IS NOT HINGED
IT IS NOT UNI-PIVOT

The name here has been inspired by the silhouette of the arm which recalls the knight holding a long spear.

The arm is uncoupled from the magnetic levitation system which supports the joint and "suspends" the entire arm.The special very long tube arm (over 13 inches) considerably reduces the tangential error, guaranteeing an exceptional tracing capacity, even for the difficult grooves near the centre of the disc.

Created with the strictest tolerance limits, its exclusive design with variable cavity effectively guarantees control over all of the energy generated by the head and eliminates unwanted resonance within its structure.Getting the highest results for the control over the resonance required a design for the arm with calculation of several uncoupling points, concentrated above all near the joint. This joint has been developed to guarantee friction levels which are negligible and excellent resistance and reliability over time.

Technical literature

TYPE: Straight tubular tapered aluminium alloy

ACTUAL LENGTH: 13 inches

ACTUAL WEIGHT: average

PERMITTED WEIGHT OF THE PICK-UP: ALL (see optional counterweights)

SUPPORT FORCE REGULATION: Counterweight system, any value (see optional counterweights)

VTA ADJUSTMENT: YES

ARM LIFTER: YES

HEAD HOLDER: Removable

TUBE ARM: Interchangeable

ANTI-SKATING: Not used
The force which the anti-skating system opposes is higher the higher the tangential error a hinged arm has. The Lancellotto arm and its 13 actual inches of length has an extremely low tangential error, so this force is irrelevant. We have therefore eliminated the anti-skating system; as well as being extremely complex to regulate correctly (there are several different opinions on this), it can also create further problems for the arm-head playing system. Another reason behind this design choice is related to the fact that nowadays the vast majority of pick-ups available have a design for the diamond which allows you to have a very large contact surface with the groove and, therefore, very low pressure on the disc, with low levels of friction.
This further limits the usefulness of the anti-skating device. Many head manufacturers, in fact, recommend anti-skating values close to zero.

HORIZONTAL MOVEMENT SYSTEM: magnetic levitation

VERTICAL MOVEMENT SYSTEM: support axis system with multi-pivot coupling.

ADVANTAGES OF THE SYSTEM: Low specific weight at the operating points, therefore low levels of friction, low sensitivity to temperature variations, low levels of wear and tear and greater stability (also due to the use of self-lubricating materials).
Thanks to this system, we can guarantee high reliability and easy set-up as well as very easy use (unlike classic uni-pivot systems). NOTES: To maximise the performance of this precision instrument, the technical team have worked on three basic aspects.
1) The considerable actual length of the arm (low radial error therefore correct tracing, even for the grooves nearest the centre of the disc)
2) Joint with extremely low friction (therefore detailed reproduction and defined and dynamic sound, with a broad and deep image)
3) Damping of the resonance which alters the quality of the playing system and increases the distortion (Optimising this aspect means obtaining sound without distortion). Optimising this aspect without penalising other aspects means the team had to work hard and test many solutions to come up with an efficient and controlled damping system. The solution which creates such great performance is a system which operates in three points, in different positions of the arm, two of which are near the two joints which permit the correct movement of the arm.
