MUSIKALITÄT
The idea was to create a music listening source, with "absolute" performance levels, which could play and extract the information from the recorded disc, as close to perfection as possible. The reason behind this decision was both logical and easy to explain. No single element of the hi-end system can add to or improve the information at the signal which it receives at its input; if anything, it loses small quantities of the signal at every step.We can deduce from this, then, that, "ideally", it is better to have a hi-end system which can extract the maximum amount of information from the disc and lose the least amount possible of signal during the subsequent steps. In the reproduction of a symphony, for example, if the playing system cannot extract from the disc the micro-information which is indispensable for the reconstruction of a correct sound front, and then transform it into an electrical signal, the device which is used to process the signal coming from the source cannot reconstruct the missing signal by "inventing" a correct reproduction of the sound image. Amplifiers, speakers and cables can only reproduce that which they receive in the best manner possible. At this point, it is self-evident that the record player, as it is the first ring in the hi-fi chain, must extract from the disc the maximum amount of information possible, with the best quality possible. To obtain the best results from a hi-end system, it is crucial to pay maximum attention possible to the record player, as this is the most critical element and the most important element in the entire audio chain. This is followed by the amplification and then only at the end the speakers, the last element to be chosen when you purchase a system using these standards.
